Nigerian winger Yira Sor produced a remarkable display of pace during K.R.C. Genk’s victory over K.A.A. Gent, recording what has been reported as the highest sprint speed ever measured in football.
Genk secured a comfortable win thanks to goals from Zakaria El Ouahdi, Noah Adedeji-Sternberg and Sor.
Sor’s moment came late in the game when he finished a rapid counterattack to seal the result for the home side, who currently sit sixth in the league standings.

Tracking data from the match showed Sor reached a top speed of 39 km/h, setting a new benchmark for the fastest sprint recorded since such statistics began being monitored in professional football.
