Nigeria’s Babajide signs for AS Roma after stellar season in Spain

Italian Serie A Women champions AS Roma have announced the signing of Nigerian international Rinsola Babajide on a deal running until June 2027.

The 27-year-old winger joins the Giallorosse as a free agent after a standout season in Spain’s Liga F with UDG Tenerife, where she scored 10 goals and provided five assists in the 2024–25 campaign.

Babajide, known for her blistering pace, direct dribbling, and attacking flair, began her career in England with spells at Millwall, Watford, Liverpool, and Brighton before moving to Spain in 2022 to play for Real Betis and later Tenerife.

“I am honoured to join a club like AS Roma, with its rich history and ambitious vision,” Babajide said.

She made an instant impact on her senior debut, scoring and assisting in Nigeria’s 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) opener against Tunisia.

Babajide’s arrival is expected to bolster an already strong Roma side that continues to dominate Italian women’s football and compete on the European stage.
