NNL fires 1472 FC from 2024/2025 League

The Nigeria National League (NNL) has taken decisive action against Lagos-based 1472 FC, expelling the team from further participation in the 2024/2025 season.

The decision follows the club’s failure to honor three away matches in the ongoing season, which has brought the league into disrepute.

According to the NNL management, 1472 FC missed matches against Abia Comets (Match 9), Dakkada FC (Match 53), and Ijele FC (Match 74). The league relied on Article 14.11 of its regulations to expel the club, citing the team’s failure to fulfill its obligations as a participating team.

In a letter signed by the NNL’s Chief Operating Officer, Danlami Alanana, 1472 FC has been fined N5 million

Furthermore, the results of all their played matches have been nullified, and any unplayed matches have been canceled.

The NNL’s decision to expel 1472 FC likely took this decision to send a strong message to all participating teams about the importance of honoring match commitments.
