“No advice to give Osimhen,” Ex-Galatasaray striker drops bombshell

Victor Osimhen rejects Al Hilal offer despite Napoli agreeing €75m fee. Nigerian striker prioritises return to top European football.

Former Galatasaray striker Bafetimbi Gomis has acknowledged Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen, saying he is doing an “exemplary job” and is making the Turkish giants, Africa, and Nigeria proud.

The Nigerian star has been on form since he left Napoli on loan in September and has enjoyed a sensational season at Galatasaray.

He has achieved 33 goals in all competitions; he has not only emerged as the top scorer in the Turkish Super Lig but also led the Istanbul club to the brink of a historic domestic double.

During an interactive session with Habersarikirmizi, he showered praise on Osimhen

“Osimhen is defending the colours of Galatasaray as he should be.”

“He is doing an exemplary job with his performance and I am proud of him. I hope he leads us to the championship and makes Galatasaray, Africa, and all of Nigeria proud. He is a very hard-working and hungry player.”

The former France international scored prolifically during his time at Galatasaray, finishing as the league’s top scorer when they lifted the Süper Lig title in 2018. Gomis retired in 2024, he knows what it means to wear the famous yellow and red jersey.

Despite being a seasoned forward with spells at Lyon, Swansea, and Marseille, Gomis had nothing but admiration for the way Osimhen has adapted to life in Turkey.

“I don’t have any advice to give to Osimhen,” Gomis added. “Osimhen does justice to the Galatasaray jersey. He already knows that he is loved at Galatasaray and he should continue to make us proud and score more goals. I wish him the best.”

Osimhen’s short-term future remains uncertain. His parent club Napoli are expected to consider offers when the transfer window reopens, as the forward’s contract runs until the summer of 2026.

With his form drawing attention across Europe, the Turkish side may face stiff competition if they hope to keep him.

For now, though, Galatasaray fans will be dreaming of a league and cup double – and Osimhen is at the heart of it.
