Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu is setting the tone ahead of Nigeria’s opening match at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The Flying Eagles are drawn into Group B with Tunisia, Morocco, and Kenya, and the team is determined to get off to a strong start after securing victories in their last three international friendlies, including wins over Côte d’Ivoire and Egypt.
The team is set to face Tunisia on Thursday and Zubairu is confident but cautions against complacency, emphasizing that the team is ready to push for a strong start.
“That result has given us the right momentum heading into this encounter with Tunisia – another tough North African side. It’s the kind of boost you need before a major tournament, We’re going for all three points against Tunisia,” Zubairu said.
Despite the confidence from recent wins, Zubairu remains grounded in his approach. “However, it doesn’t mean we’ll be complacent. It simply gives us the confidence to tackle what lies ahead,” he added.
