NPFL 2026: Ikorodu City reappoints coach Ozebagbe after Aweroro departs for 3SC

Nigeria Premier Football League(NPFL) side Ikorodu City FC have confirmed the return of Bright Ozebagbe as Technical Adviser, marking a surprise comeback just months after his dismissal early in the 2024/2025 season.

Ozebagbe was relieved of his duties six weeks into the campaign after failing to register a win in the club’s first six matches.

His exit paved the way for Nurudeen Aweroro, who turned Ikorodu City’s fortunes around, guiding them from the relegation zone to a strong fourth-place finish.

However, Aweroro has now taken up a new role at fellow NPFL side Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), prompting Ikorodu City to turn back to a familiar face.

Despite the poor start that led to his sacking, Ozebagbe remains well-regarded at the club, having previously masterminded their promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) and securing the 2023 Lagos FA Cup title.

In a club statement posted on Saturday, Ikorodu City announced:

“Bright Ozebagbe will serve as Technical Adviser of the club, overseeing the development of all categories of the club. Ali Kandil becomes head coach.”
