NPFL: Obaje double rescues Rangers in Bauchi as 3SC stun Wolves

Former Wikki Tourist striker Godwin Obaje returned to haunt his old club with a brace as Rangers International drew 2-2 away in Bauchi in Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday six.

Klinshak Longbak put Wikki Tourist ahead on 12 minutes before Obaje levelled for Rangers with a fine header on the half-hour mark.

Jonathan Mairiga restored Wikki’s lead early in the second half, but Obaje struck again in the 78th minute, notching his 86th and 87th NPFL career goals in the same ground where he opened his league account over a decade ago.

It was almost a first away win of the season for Rangers, who had lost their opening two away matches, but they were forced to settle for a point against Abdul Maikaba’s Wikki side.

Maikaba, a former Rangers coach, guided the club to the 2023 Federation Cup final before being replaced by Fidelis Ilechukwu.

Elsewhere, Warri Wolves suffered late heartbreak as 3SC came from behind to snatch a dramatic 2-1 win in Delta.
