Former Super Eagles striker and NPFL goal king Mfon Udoh delivered a masterclass in finishing on Friday afternoon, scoring twice to inspire Brothers Union Club to a commanding 4–1 comeback victory over Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club in the Bangladesh Premier League.
The match, played at the Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur, saw Brothers Union climb to fourth on the league table despite being reduced to ten men early in the second half.
Fakirerpool made a bright start, taking the lead in the 15th minute through Ivorian striker Ben Ibrahim Ouattara. But their early advantage quickly evaporated as Brothers Union turned up the pressure.
Uzbek forward Akobir Turaev brought the sides level in the 29th minute, confidently converting from the penalty spot.
Udoh, 33, joined Brothers Union in February, gave his side the lead in the 37th minute with a sharp finish, before extending the margin just after the hour mark with a composed strike in the 65th minute—his second of the game and third in five league appearances.

Midfielder Kaushik Barua put the result beyond doubt in the 77th minute, smashing home Brothers’ fourth goal to seal an emphatic win.

The victory was even more impressive considering Brothers Union had to see out the match with ten men following a straight red card to Turaev for unsporting behaviour. Despite the numerical disadvantage, the all-orange side remained dominant and showed remarkable discipline and flair.
Brothers Union now sit fourth in the league with 23 points from 15 matches, while Fakirerpool stay eighth with 16 points from the same number of games.
Udoh’s performance was another reminder of his enduring quality. A record-setter in Nigerian football, he still holds the record for most goals in a single season in the Nigerian Premier Football League(NPFL) and remains the only player to have scored over 35 goals in consecutive seasons.

He also topped the scoring charts in the 2016 CAF Champions League group stage with nine goals and has proven equally lethal in the Bangladesh Premier League, where he previously starred for Saif Sporting Club, Sheikh Russel KC, and title-winning Bashundhara Kings.
Since arriving in Bangladesh, Udoh has scored 28 goals and provided 15 assists in just 37 league appearances—statistics that place him among the most productive strikers in the league’s recent history.
