The National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced full details for the 9th National Youth Games, set to be staged in Asaba, Delta State, from 29 August to 6 September 2025.
With the theme “We Are the Future”, this year’s edition will gather Nigeria’s brightest young sporting talents for a celebration of unity, discipline and excellence.
Delta, the defending overall champions with 98 medals in 2024, including 41 gold, 27 silver and 30 bronze will be aiming to maintain their dominance on home turf.
Preparations are already in motion, with the Main Organising Committee (MOC) and Local Organising Committee (LOC) inspecting and certifying venues to meet championship standards.
The registration portal opened on 14 July and will close on 13 August.

Zonal eliminations will run from 16–18 August, followed by the Pre-Delegation Registration Meetings (Pre-DRM) on 19–20 August, and the Delegation Registration Meetings (DRM) from 21–24 August.

The Games Village will open to contingents on 26 August, with physical screening and technical clearance scheduled for 28 August.
The tournament proper will then run from 29 August to 6 September, with athletes competing across multiple sports for national recognition.

The NSC says the Games will not only serve as a platform to discover future stars but also reinforce the values of sportsmanship, unity and national pride.
