Teenage golf prodigy Grace Agbo has claimed her first National Sports Festival (2024 NSF) gold, powering to victory in the ladies’ stroke play event for Team FCT at the 2024 edition in Ogun State.
Agbo shot a total gross of 84 to finish top, delivering a composed performance that boosted FCT’s medal count to nine.
Speaking after her win, the young star expressed her excitement, noting that the gold medal was especially sweet after missing out on a podium finish at the previous edition in Asaba.
“I started from the back nine with a par on hole 10 but struggled on hole 11. I had to chip in to save a 7 and played a par on hole 18 — the hardest hole. That gave me confidence to push for the win,” Agbo said.

She dedicated her victory to her father and coach, Pro Dominic, her uncle Chidi, and friend Janet, crediting them for their guidance and belief in her.
“Their voices were in my head on every hole, reminding me to stay focused. This win is all about hard work, and I hope to add more medals before the festival ends,” she added.
FCT Director of Sports, Luka Istefanus, praised Agbo’s performance, calling it a major inspiration for young athletes across the country.
“Grace has shown what’s possible with talent and dedication. Her win is a big moment for youth golf in Nigeria,” he said.
