Former Nigerian Super Eagles star Nwankwo Kanu has urged Victor Osimhen not to leave Galatasaray, citing the club’s love and support for the striker.
According to Kanu, Osimhen’s success at Galatasaray can be attributed to the fans’ backing, which is rare and crucial for his progress which he may likely not immediately enjoy in the Premier League.
“I don’t agree with those advising Victor Osimhen to leave Galatasaray,” Kanu said. “A bird in hand is worth more than a thousand in the forest. Galatasaray loves him, and when a club shows you love, it’s not wise to betray that.”
Kanu, will always be remembered for his prolific strides with several clubs, including Ajax, Arsenal, and Portsmouth, knows a thing or two about success in football.

His advice comes at a time when Osimhen’s future at Galatasaray is being speculated about. Kanu believes that Osimhen’s success at Galatasaray is largely due to the fans’ support.
“He’s thriving at Galatasaray because the fans are behind him. That kind of support is rare, and it’s a big reason for his progress. Leaving the club now wouldn’t be the best decision.”
Victor Osimhen is reportedly linked to a switch to several English Premier League clubs, with Manchester United and Arsenal being the front-runners.

Victor Osimhen has enjoyed successful stints at several clubs, including VfL Wolfsburg, Charleroi, Lille, and Napoli, where he was signed for a club-record fee of €70 million in 2020.

Osimhen’s stats reflect his impressive performance. In the 2022-2023 season, he recorded 26 goal contributions. In the 2023-2024 season, he had 28 goal contributions. So far this season, Osimhen has already registered 17 goal contributions in the top-flight, continuing to underline his importance to Galatasaray.
