The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the upcoming Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) U-18 and U-20 Championships in Abeokuta has unveiled a comprehensive structure of sub-committees to oversee the smooth execution of the event.
Led by Bukola Olopade, Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), the LOC is intensifying preparations ahead of the five-day championship set to begin on July 16, 2025, at the MKO Abiola International Stadium.
Olopade reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to delivering a tournament of international standard.
“We are putting everything in place to ensure a world-class experience for athletes, officials, and fans across Africa,” he said.
Olympian Enefiok Udo-Obong heads the technical subcommittee, supported by experienced sports professionals including Olawale Olatunji, Lekan Soetan, and Tosin Solademi.

The accommodation subcommittee is chaired by Musa Amadu, working with logistics experts to handle team and official housing arrangements.
Security will be coordinated by another Olympian, Fidelis Gadzama, with support from military and civilian operatives, including Col Abbas Mohammed and Dauda Omizi.
Veteran sports journalist Gowon Akpodonor leads the media and publicity subcommittee, supported by a team of seasoned journalists like Ben Efe, Michael Azeez Ogunsiji, and Charles Ogundiya.

The venue and facilities team is also overseen by Olopade himself, reflecting its critical importance in staging the championships.
Other key sub-committees include medical, anti-doping, secretariat & accreditation, each composed of professionals from across Nigeria’s sports, health, and administrative sectors.
