Osimhen adds late gloss as Galatasaray tighten grip at the top

Victor Osimhen continued his prolific run in Turkey, scoring and providing an assist as Galatasaray S.K. secured a 3-1 home win over Alanyaspor to strengthen their position in the Süper Lig title race.

Just days after helping the Istanbul club reach the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in over a decade, Osimhen returned to domestic duty with the same sharpness and influence.

Galatasaray began on the front foot at Rams Park but were initially frustrated. A first-half effort from Sacha Boey was ruled out following a VAR review for offside, while Osimhen himself spurned a clear opening before the interval.

The breakthrough eventually arrived just before half-time when Boey finished calmly after being picked out inside the box, giving the hosts a deserved lead at the break.

The visitors responded early in the second half through Benin international Steve Mounié, briefly unsettling the home crowd. But parity lasted only minutes.

Osimhen turned provider, sliding a precise pass into the path of Lucas Torreira, who restored Galatasaray’s advantage with a composed finish. It was a reminder that even when not scoring, the Nigerian forward remains central to his side’s attacking rhythm.

He later missed a one-on-one chance that could have sealed the contest earlier, but there would be no lasting frustration.

With Alanyaspor pushing forward in search of another equaliser, space opened up late on. In the 89th minute, Osimhen made certain of the points, applying a clinical finish to put the result beyond doubt before departing to a standing ovation.
