Osimhen milestone inspires Galatasaray to extend Super Lig lead

Victor Osimhen delivered another influential performance for Galatasaray on Sunday, playing a central role in a convincing 4-0 Super Lig victory over Kayserispor that strengthened the club’s position at the top of the table.

The Nigerian forward scored once and set up another as Champions  overwhelmed a struggling Kayserispor side, moving six points clear of Fenerbahçe, who still have a game in hand.

Galatasaray set the tone early, forcing the breakthrough inside seven minutes when Aaron Opoku turned the ball into his own net while attempting to clear a dangerous delivery into the box.

The hosts maintained the pressure and were rewarded midway through the first half as Osimhen was fouled in the area before stepping up to convert the resulting penalty.

Galatasaray continued to dictate the tempo and effectively ended the contest on the hour. A direct ball forward released Osimhen in space, and the striker showed composure to pick out Gabriel Sara, who swept home a first-time finish from just outside the penalty area.

With the outcome beyond doubt, Mauro Icardi added further gloss late on, scoring from the spot after Galatasaray were awarded a second penalty.
