Osimhen ready for ‘difficult’ Juventus test as Galatasaray defend first-leg lead

Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen says Galatasaray are prepared for a “difficult” encounter against Juventus as the two sides meet in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League play-off on Wednesday.

The Turkish champions travel to Turin holding a commanding 5-2 advantage from the first leg in Istanbul, where Osimhen provided two assists and led the attack.

Despite backing from Turkey national team coach Vincenzo Montella for a Juventus comeback, Osimhen insisted Galatasaray will not approach the tie defensively.

“I think tomorrow’s match will be quite difficult,” he said at Tuesday’s pre-match press conference.

“We are ready for it. We have completed our preparations and we are waiting for our opponent. As in the first match, in the second match we will aim not only to protect the score we achieved, but also to play our own game by attacking.”

Osimhen missed Galatasaray’s weekend league defeat at Konyaspor with a knee problem, but confirmed he has recovered in time for the trip to Italy.

“First of all, I want to thank our medical team. They gave me tremendous support. I can say that I recovered very quickly thanks to their care and help,” he added.

The 27-year-old has scored six goals and provided two assists in this season’s Champions League campaign.
