President Tinubu congratulates Remo Stars on historic NPFL title win

While one NPFL club faces heavy sanctions for fan violence, league leaders Remo Stars edge closer to a historic title in a dramatic week.

President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his warmest congratulations to Remo Stars Football Club on their remarkable achievement of winning the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title.

The privately-owned club secured their first-ever league title with three matches to spare after defeating Niger Tornadoes 1-0 in Ikenne-Remo.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised the team’s historic victory as a testament to the hard work, discipline, and unwavering spirit of the players, coaching crew, and management.

The President noted the team’s resilience and perseverance, highlighting their courage in pursuing success despite previous near-misses in the league title race.

Tinubu also commended the vision and commitment of Remo Stars’ owner and chairman, Kunle Soname, whose investment in grassroots football has provided a vital foundation for the growth of sports in Nigeria.

As Nigeria’s champions, Remo Stars will represent the country in the CAF Champions League. President Tinubu urged the team to deploy the same unyielding spirit and focus to win continental honors.

He also called on football fans across Nigeria to rally behind the team as they carry the nation’s hopes onto the African stage.

After finishing second in the last two NPFL seasons, the team finally struck gold this term, showcasing their growth and dedication.
