Prince Ukeme Ukpong Foundation empowers over 1,000 people in Akwa Ibom

The Prince Ukeme Ukpong Mega Foundation has reached more than 1,000 residents of Obot Akara, Akwa Ibom State, at its 2025 Learn, Excel & Empower outreach held at Comprehensive High School, Ikpe Mbak Eyop.

The event, themed Igniting Hope, brought together students, youths, persons with disabilities, traders and community members.

It was attended by the Executive Chairman of Obot Akara Local Government and Lady (Dr.) Blessing Ebonguko, who represented the Chairman of Monty Suites Group.

Foundation Chancellor and founder Prince Ukeme Ukpong said the initiative was designed to open opportunities for those who need support.

“Today we are not just giving items or money,  we are igniting hope and handing over the torch of possibility to the next generation,” he said. “It is one thing to have, and it is another thing for you to give.”

The programme included support for 12 persons with disabilities, who received wheelchairs, elbow and armpit crutches, and financial assistance. Fifty-four students across Akwa Ibom were awarded cash scholarships.

Small business owners also received ₦7.5m in grants, while 13 young people were supported with livelihood items including sewing machines and heavy-duty clippers. Households received food palliatives, and schools were given learning materials. Prince Ukpong also made a ₦3m donation to the Obot Akara youth structure.

The Executive Chairman of Obot Akara commended the Foundation’s consistency and said the council would continue supporting initiatives that “touch more lives”. Lady (Dr.) Blessing Ebonguko described the Foundation’s work as “a necessity for common good”.

Miss Comfort, one of the scholarship recipients, said the support would ease a major burden for her family.
