Rangers International U14 claimed a narrow 1–0 win over Champs City U14 in a fiercely contested match on Sunday, 15 November, at St Patrick’s College, Emene, Enugu.
The decisive moment came from Munachi Nwoke, whose well-taken effort separated the sides after a fast, physical and often high-tempo encounter.
Rangers’ youngsters showed notable composure and resilience in the face of sustained pressure from Champs City, who pushed for an equaliser deep into the final minutes.
Speaking after the match, the Rangers U14 coach Ejike Uzoenyi commended his players’ spirit, discipline and behaviour, praising the squad for maintaining composure throughout the heated contest.
He also thanked the club’s General Manager/CEO Amobi Ezeaku for his continued support of the academy project.
Rangers International have strengthened their youth development structure since Ezeaku took office, rolling out competitions and programmes across Nigeria and beyond.
The club’s academicals are guided by respected figures including Super Eagles legend and AFCON 2013 winner Ejike Uzoenyi, Coach Felix Nwosu ( Under 16-19), and others who are driving a new wave of talent development in Enugu.
Their progress was highlighted once again last week when Team Enugu, containing several Rangers academy players, won the 2025 Game On Afrika Tournament Nigeria title.
They defeated Team Imo 5–4 on penalties in Obowo after a goalless final at Okenalogho Secondary Technical School, securing a place in the continental showdown against the Ghanaian champions.
Champs City U14, coached by former Rangers player and ex-international Jude Agada, delivered a strong performance despite the defeat.
The Enugu-based academy, supported by First Bank of Nigeria Limited, continues to grow its reputation through its “Whole-Person-Walk to Stardom” development system.
