Remo Stars receive major financial boost from Victor Osimhen after historic first-ever NPFL title

Davidson Owumi, has confirmed that preparations are underway for a grand trophy presentation ceremony for Remo Stars' first-ever NPFL title.

Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen, has made a generous gesture to the newly crowned Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Remo Stars, following their historic title win.

The Nigerian international reportedly gifted the club a total of ₦10 million in appreciation of their impressive triumph, with ₦5 million allocated for the players and another ₦5 million for the technical crew.

Sources close to the player confirmed that Osimhen made a heartfelt phone call to Remo Stars’ head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, earlier today to congratulate the team.

During the conversation, Osimhen expressed his admiration for the club’s resilience, determination, and relentless fighting spirit that led to their maiden NPFL title.

The 1 nil victory against Niger Tornadoes in NPFL match day 35 on Sunday marked a historic achievement for Remo Stars, who became the first club from South West Nigeria to win the prestigious NPFL title in 25 years ( Julius Berger 2000).

The sky-blue stars have been nothing short of dominant this season, remaining unbeaten at their Ikenne fortress with 16 wins and 2 draws, accumulating an impressive 50 points in the process.

In what has been a season of milestones, Remo Stars’ perfect home record makes them the only team in the league unbeaten on their own turf. However, their success wasn’t confined to home matches.

The club also demonstrated resilience on the road, securing 18 points from 5 wins, 3 draws, and 9 losses, a vital contribution to their title charge.

Remo Stars’ journey to the 2024/2025 NPFL title has been years in the making. After finishing 3rd in the 2022 season, and narrowly missing out on the top spot in the last two campaigns (finishing 2nd in both 2023 and 2024).
