Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Davidson Owumi, has confirmed that final preparations are underway for a grand trophy presentation ceremony to celebrate Remo Stars’ first-ever NPFL title.
This momentous achievement follows their dramatic 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes on Matchday 35, marking the culmination of a 15-year journey. With three matches still remaining in the season, Remo Stars have secured 68 points, clinching the title after finishing third in 2022 and second in both 2023 and 2024.
To mark this historic occasion, Owumi revealed that the trophy presentation will take place after Remo Stars’ final home game of the season, scheduled against Ikorodu City on May 11, 2025.

In response to logistical concerns, the match has been rescheduled to kick off at 3 pm instead of the originally planned 4 pm. The change is designed to ensure the safety of the many fans and dignitaries travelling from Lagos to Ikenne, allowing them to return safely in daylight.

Owumi explained, “With a large number of supporters and dignitaries travelling from Lagos, it is crucial for their safety that they can return during daylight hours.”
Remo Stars will face El Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri on Matchday 36, before returning home to play Ikorodu City in what will be their final home match. The club will then conclude their season with an away match against Bayelsa United in Yenagoa.
