Rena Wakama names final D’Tigress squad for 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifiers

D’Tigress head coach Rena Wakama has unveiled her final 12-player squad for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament in Villeurbanne, France.

The competition will take place from 11 to 17 March, with Nigeria set to face France, the Philippines, Colombia, Germany and South Korea.

The final roster was selected from a 17-player provisional list released on 25 February as the team stepped up preparations for the tournament.

Among those included are Ezinne Kalu, Promise Amukamara, Amy Okonkwo, Elizabeth Balogun, Blessing Ejiofor, Nicole Enabosi and Ifunnaya Okoro.

Also named in the squad are Pallas Kunayi-Akpannah, Victoria Macaulay, Sarah Ogoke, Murjanatu Musa and Rita Igbokwe.

Nigeria will begin their campaign against Colombia on 11 March before taking on South Korea the following day.

D’Tigress will then have a two-day break before returning to action against the Philippines on 14 March.

They will face hosts France on 15 March before concluding their fixtures against Germany on 17 March.

Nigeria have already secured qualification for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup after winning the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, where they defeated Mali in the final.
