Samuel Chukwueze breaks silence on AC Milan struggles

Samuel Chukwueze admits he's happy to sacrifice playing time for AC Milan, but transfer rumors swirl as top Premier League clubs circle.

AC Milan winger and Super Eagles star Samuel Chukwueze says he’s content putting the team first—even if it means spending more time on the bench.

The 25-year-old Nigerian, who joined Milan from Villarreal for €25 million in 2023, has started just nine Serie A matches this season, with only three goals in 23 appearances.

While most players at his age are hungry for minutes, Chukwueze insists his focus is on the collective:

“The priority is the group and the solidity of our team; then, obviously I would like to play a bit more, but the team comes first,” he told Sempre Milan ahead of Milan’s recent fixture against Fiorentina.

Since January, Chukwueze has logged just 190 minutes of club football—barely more than two full games. In the match against David De Gea’s team, he was subbed on for only 10 minutes.

The situation has sparked transfer rumors. Fulham nearly secured his signature during the January window, but the deal fell through due to timing.

According to Sports Witness, the winger had already packed his bags, with manager Sergio Conceição reportedly unconvinced by his performances.

Now, Premier League clubs like Aston Villa, Everton, and West Ham are monitoring the situation, while lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League also loom large.

Despite the transfer speculation, Chukwueze’s dip in form has become a talking point. Once a rising star at Villarreal with over 60 goal contributions, the explosive winger has yet to hit similar heights in Milan.
