Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze says the mood at AC Milan is buzzing under new manager Massimiliano Allegri, crediting the Italian for lifting spirits and bringing a fresh sense of direction to the club ahead of the new Serie A season.
Following Milan’s emphatic 9-0 win over Perth Glory in their final pre-season fixture, Chukwueze spoke glowingly about the positive shift in the dressing room atmosphere and Allegri’s influence on the squad.
“Coach Allegri is a great coach everyone knows that,” Chukwueze said.
“He has won a lot throughout his career, and now that he’s here, he’ll aim to win trophies with Milan as well. He understands what the players want and what he needs from them in both defence and attack.”

Chukwueze was one of the scorers in the match in Perth, delivering a sharp performance as Milan completed their Far East tour on a high.
But beyond the goals and results, the Nigerian winger pointed to a rejuvenated team spirit as the most important gain.
“Everyone is happy and working hard. There’s a fantastic atmosphere in the dressing room,” he said.

“Some teammates even dance, and I’m one of them,” he added with a laugh. “Having fun makes everything easier.”
He stressed the importance of maintaining joy and a positive mindset in football.
“You always need to smile and enjoy what you do. Football can be stressful, and sometimes you dwell too much on what’s not working. But it’s important to keep smiling and stay happy. That helps you play better and live better.”
Chukwueze also highlighted the importance of focus and discipline, especially with the new league season just around the corner.

“Every pre-season game matters. It doesn’t matter if it’s a small team or a big one we must approach every game with the mindset to win. That’s the only way to reach our goals.”
As the Rossoneri gear up for the new campaign, the Nigerian international believes the team is ready mentally and tactically.

“There’s a time to joke and a time to work. Now that the job is done, we can relax a bit and have fun,” he said. “But once the whistle blows, it’s all business.”

Chukwueze, 26, has endured a frustrating spell at the club since his high-profile switch from Villarreal two years ago, managing just eight goals and six assists in 69 appearances, the majority of which came off the bench.
