Sevilla striker Akor Adams has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2024/25 season after suffering a thigh injury during the 2-1 defeat to Atlético Madrid.
The 25-year-old Nigerian forward, who joined Sevilla from Montpellier in January for €5.5 million, sustained a rectus femoris muscle injury in his right thigh.
According to Spanish outlet AS, Adams faces at least two months on the sidelines, meaning he will not return before the season ends.
“Adams will begin his recovery process this Wednesday,” Sevilla’s medical team confirmed in an official statement.
The injury is another frustrating setback for both player and club. Adams was brought in to strengthen Sevilla’s attack amid a relegation fight but has struggled with fitness since arriving.
After debuting in a goalless draw against Getafe on February 1, he was sidelined shortly afterward for more than five weeks due to injury.
Since returning, Adams has made just three appearances — against Athletic Bilbao, Real Betis, and Atlético Madrid — and is yet to score in La Liga.

In total, he’s featured four times for Sevilla, starting once and playing a full 90 minutes only against Atlético on April 6.

Adams’ absence adds to Sevilla’s growing injury crisis. Fellow January signing Rubén Vargas has also been ruled out for the season, while key players like Chidera Ejuke, Saúl Ñíguez, and Tanguy Nianzou remain long-term absentees.
The pressure continues to mount on manager Xavi García Pimienta, with Sevilla’s next match — away to Valencia — shaping up to be a critical test for both the team’s survival hopes and the coach’s job security.

Despite their troubles, Sevilla currently sit eight points clear of the relegation zone, thanks in part to favorable results elsewhere.
Adams had been expected to hit the ground running after a promising stint in Ligue 1, where he scored 11 goals and provided two assists in 47 appearances for Montpellier.
