Singida place Obasogie on ice pending match fixing probe

Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has been suspended for three months by Singida Black Stars SC pending an investigation into alleged match-fixing, the Tanzanian club confirmed on Friday.

The decision announced in a public statement dated 27 February 2026, was described as a precautionary step to allow the club’s Disciplinary Committee conduct a full review of the allegations.

No formal charges or supporting evidence have yet been disclosed by either the club or football authorities in Tanzania.

Obasogie’s situation follows scrutiny arising from Thursday’s Tanzanian Premier League fixture against Namungo FC. Singida were leading 1-0 deep into stoppage time when the hosts conceded a late free kick.

The resulting delivery appeared manageable, but the Nigerian goalkeeper spilled the ball under pressure, allowing Fabrice Ngoy to react quickest and score a dramatic equaliser.

In the disciplinary communication released via the club’s chief executive office and shared on its official social media channels, Singida also confirmed a three-month suspension for midfielder Khalid Aucho over alleged indiscipline and absenteeism.
