Nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Enyimba International have opened discussions with Stanley Eguma over a potential contract extension that could see him appointed as the club’s permanent head coach.
Eguma, 55, was named interim boss midway through the 2024–25 season following the dismissal of Olanrewaju Yemi. Since stepping in, he has steadied the ship, guiding Enyimba to a sixth-place league finish after managing 22 matches, earning eight wins, five draws and nine defeats — a total of 29 points.
Though not spectacular, the finish was considered respectable given the mid-season turbulence and the high expectations surrounding the Aba-based club.
Enyimba also fell short on the continental stage, finishing third in their CAF Confederation Cup group and failing to progress to the knockout rounds.

Despite that setback, Eguma’s experience and calm leadership have won him admirers within the club hierarchy. He has formally submitted his contract terms, and sources close to the negotiation say an agreement could be finalised as early as next week.
Eguma is no stranger to Enyimba, having previously served as an assistant coach during their landmark CAF Champions League triumph in 2004.
