Super Eagles climb 12 places in latest FIFA world rankings

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have climbed to 26th place in the latest FIFA world rankings, marking a significant rise following their impressive performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The rankings, published on FIFA’s official website on Monday, show Nigeria jumping 12 places from 38th to 26th, one of the most notable movements in the latest update.

The surge follows a strong AFCON campaign in which the Super Eagles finished third overall. Under the guidance of head coach Eric Chelle, Nigeria won six of their seven matches at the tournament, demonstrating consistency and resilience throughout.

Their only defeat came in the semi-finals, where they were edged out by host nation Morocco after a penalty shootout. Nigeria responded decisively in the third-place play-off, defeating Egypt 4-2 to secure a place on the podium.

FIFA also confirmed that Nigeria recorded the highest points gain in the latest rankings, adding 79.09 points to their total.
