Nigeria goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has withdrawn from the Super Eagles squad after suffering a thigh injury during training in Turkey.
The Nigeria shot-stopper sustained the problem in a training session, ruling him out of the team’s final fixture of the invitational tournament against Jordan.
He has since returned to Italy for further assessment and recovery with his club, Udinese
Okoye’s withdrawal comes shortly after his return to the national setup, having recently been reintegrated into the squad.
He featured in Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Iran, marking his comeback after missing earlier selections, including the side that finished third at the recent Africa Cup of Nations.
Although there had been suggestions he might be rested for the Jordan match as part of squad rotation, the injury has now ended his participation in the tournament.
