Super Eagles striker Peter Olayinka has resumed training on the pitch at Red Star Belgrade with his teammates after being sidelined for six months due to a ruptured Achilles tendon.
Olayinka suffered the injury during a UEFA Champions League match against Monaco in October 2024. It was confirmed to be an Achilles tendon rupture, which required him to undergo surgery.
The Achilles tendon is the thickest and strongest tendon in the body, connecting the calf muscles to the heel bone.

It plays a crucial role in movements such as walking, jumping, and climbing stairs. Achilles tendon ruptures take considerable time to heal.
Olayinka has been recovering since the injury, missing 31 games and being unavailable for Super Eagles call-ups during this period.
In a positive turn of events, Olayinka has begun training on the pitch. He shared pictures of himself on social media, and Red Star Belgrade’s official page commented, “Things we love to see: Peter Olayinka is back on the training pitch.”

This indicates that he has been doing gym work for some time and is now making significant progress toward returning to action.
Although Peter Olayinka is training on the field, he will still need additional time before he can participate in matches.
Currently, he is working on personal fitness drills but is expected to train with his teammates in the coming days. As a result, he will not be able to play for Red Star Belgrade this season.
The Serbian champions have five games remaining until the end of the season, with the final match scheduled for May 24, which is likely too soon for Olayinka.
