Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade calls for increased government support and investment in women’s football following WAFCON 2024 win.

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has voiced her frustration over the delay in payment of promised rewards and bonuses to the Super Falcons all conquering 2024 Womens Africa cup nations (WAFCON) team

Speaking on the upcoming episode of With Chude, hosted by Chude Jideonwo, the 24-year-old confirmed that the team is still waiting for the $100,000 reward announced by President Bola Tinubu after their historic 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) victory in Morocco in July 2025.

“We have not received our money oo. Please, they have not paid. All the promises you heard back and forth, we have not received anything,” she said.

Ajibade added that players had been told the funds had been allocated but insisted no payments had reached them.

“People are begging. We have not received it. When they pay it, you will see. Even our match bonuses and everything everything is still a work in progress,” she said.

She described the experience as “a tough moment” and recalled her upbringing in a crowded Mushin compound.

“I grew up in a compound of almost 100 people,” she said. “I had to wash people’s toilets and bathrooms for money.”
