Super Falcons step up WAFCON build-up as more players arrive in Cameroon

Super Falcons of Nigeria began their WAFCON 2024 campaign with a win over Tunisia, with Babajide and Oshoala leading the charge in Casablanca.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons camp has grown to 15 players as preparations continue for two international friendlies against Cameroon in Yaounde

The latest arrivals include Rinsola Babajide and Shukurat Oladipo of AS Roma Women, alongside Folashade Ijamilusi and Kafayat Shittu. They join 11 players who reported earlier this week when camp opened.

Among the initial arrivals were captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Gift Monday, Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene, Oluwatosin Demehin and Christy Ucheibe, allowing the coaching staff to begin early tactical sessions.

Nigeria held their first full training at the Stade Omnisport Ahmadou Ahidjo, with drills focused on shape, transitions and fitness. Team media officer Mary Catherine said the session began at 18:00 local time.

The friendlies, scheduled for 28 February and 3 March, form part of Nigeria’s preparations to defend their title at the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Coaches are expected to use the matches to assess squad depth and test combinations ahead of the tournament.

While Nigeria’s squad continues to take shape, Cameroon women’s national football team approach the fixtures without a permanent head coach.

Jean-Baptiste Bisseck was dismissed in October 2025 following a qualification defeat to Algeria, and a long-term replacement has yet to be appointed.
