Taribo West speaks on Wilfred Ndidi’s future at Leicester City

Former Super Eagles defender Taribo West has casted doubt on Wilfred Ndidi’s future at Leicester City following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

Ndidi, 28, has been a key player for the Foxes since joining from Genk in 2017, earning a reputation as one of the league’s top defensive midfielders. However, with Leicester set to play in the Championship next season, questions have arisen over whether the Nigerian international will stay.

West, a former Inter Milan and AC Milan star, believes Ndidi is unlikely to remain despite his loyalty to the club. “I don’t see him staying at Leicester in the Championship, even though he has been committed to them,” West told Africa Foot.

Ndidi’s contract runs until 2027, meaning Leicester could demand a significant fee for his services. However, the midfielder may seek a move to remain in the Premier League or secure European football—something Leicester last offered in the 2021-22 Europa League.

Crystal Palace has been linked with a move for Ndidi, which could provide him with an immediate top-flight return. While no official bids have been made, the summer transfer window will be decisive in determining his next step.
