Coach Mangut Mbwas has called for caution after Nasarawa United went top of the NPFL table with a 2-0 victory over Katsina United in Lafia on Sunday.
Last season’s top scorer, Anas Yusuf, gave the Solid Miners the lead with a powerful 35-metre strike on the stroke of half-time, before captain Abubakar Abdullahi sealed the win with a tidy finish 17 minutes from time.
The result, their third consecutive home win this season, lifted Nasarawa United to 13 points from six matches, while Katsina United remain in fourth place with nine points.
“It’s not time for celebration yet because the league is a marathon, and still at its infancy,” Mbwas said. “My team is growing in confidence, game in, game out, and I believe we could win anywhere.”

He admitted his side wasted several chances to extend their lead but praised their determination.
“It’s a thing of joy to win today. Our response was great because we have been working so hard,” he added.
“We should have scored more than two goals today, but it seems my players are over anxious in front of goal. We are working towards correcting all of those.”
In recognition of the victory, the team received a ₦500,000 cash reward from the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu.
