Kwara United head coach Tunde Sanni has criticised his players’ complacency after their 1-0 loss to Asante Kotoko ended their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
The Harmony Boys went into the second-leg tie in Abeokuta needing a win to overturn a 4-3 first-leg defeat in Ghana.
But despite creating several chances, they lacked composure and were punished in the 54th minute when Hubert Gyau struck the decisive goal.
Speaking after the match, Sanni did not hide his frustration.
“Honestly, I am very disappointed in my players. They played like they had nothing to lose and this is very painful. I feel they were overconfident because of the performance they had last week away from home,” he said.

The result confirmed Kwara United’s 5-3 aggregate exit at the preliminary stage.
On the opposite bench, Kotoko boss Karim Zito said his side were confident after correcting their mistakes from the first leg.
“I was very confident we were going to win the game because after watching the tapes of the first leg, we saw our mistakes and worked on them,” Zito explained.
