President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will host Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Remo Stars at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, in recognition of the club’s historic 2024/25 title triumph.

The reception, expected to take place before the start of the 2025/26 NPFL season, was confirmed after a longstanding memo requesting handshake and photo opportunities for domestic league champions was approved.

The initial proposal had reportedly been on the President’s desk since December 2024.

The Sky Blue Stars, as they are fondly known, made history last month by clinching their first-ever NPFL title, amassing 71 points from 38 matches. Remo Stars recorded 22 wins, 5 draws, and 11 losses, remaining unbeaten at home throughout the season.

Their strong away form—collecting 18 points on the road—also proved vital in their title charge.

In addition to national prestige, this milestone carries significant weight for the Southwestern region of Nigeria. Remo Stars have become the first club from the region to win the NPFL title in 25 years, ending a long-standing drought since Julius Berger FC lifted the trophy in the 1999/2000 season.

The club’s achievement also guarantees them a place in the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, alongside runners-up Rivers United.
