World record holder and reigning African champion Tobi Amusan reaffirmed her dominance in the women’s 100 metres hurdles on Sunday, 4 August, winning her fifth consecutive national title at the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Trials.
The event took place at the Yaba College of Technology Sports Complex in Lagos.
Amusan burst from the starting blocks and maintained a commanding lead throughout the race, crossing the line in 12.57 seconds, a margin that reaffirmed her standing as Nigeria’s top hurdler.

Recall that Amusan recently broke the meet record at the Diamond League meet in Rabat, Morocco, with a time of 12.24 seconds in May 2025.

Meanwhile, her nearest challenger is Adaobi Tabugbo who clocked 13.03 seconds to secure silver, while Faith Osamuyi claimed bronze with a time of 13.36 seconds.
The victory builds momentum for Amusan as she continues her preparations for the 2025 World Athletics Championships, scheduled for September in Tokyo.
