Tobi Amusan survives close call to qualify for Silesia 100m hurdles final

Tobi Amusan’s Diamond League campaign stayed alive in dramatic fashion as she squeezed into the women’s 100m hurdles final at the Silesia meeting.

The Nigerian world record holder finished fourth in her semifinal with a time of 12.48 seconds, missing out on automatic qualification behind Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent, Danielle Williams, and American Tonea Marshall.

Amusan was forced to wait on times from the second semifinal, and her effort proved just enough to secure one of the non-automatic qualifying places.

She edged out Alia Armstrong and former world record holder Kendra Harrison by fractions of a second.
