Top clubs in Europe are vying for the signature of Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi after the relegation of Leicester City to the English Championship.
According to reports, a clause in Ndidi’s contract allows another club to pay €9 million (£7.6 million) for his services if the Foxes are relegated.
This development has significant implications for Ndidi’s future, as several clubs in the Premier League and top European leagues could comfortably afford the release fee.
With the summer transfer window approaching, it seems increasingly likely that Ndidi will leave the King Power Stadium and Brentford, Everton are reportedly interested in his signature.
Turkish side Besiktas are also reportedly been linked with the 28-year-old midfielder for the past two years. Additionally, one or two other Premier League sides are also rumored to be considering the transfer.
Ndidi has been an important player for Leicester City, featuring in 27 games across all competitions last season and contributing four assists. Despite his efforts, the Foxes were unable to avoid relegation.
The Super Eagles midfielder had signed a new contract with the club in the summer, but the relegation clause may now come into play.

The €9 million release fee is considered relatively affordable for clubs in the Premier League and top European leagues. Moreover, clubs in Turkey, such as Besiktas, could also manage this fee, especially given Ndidi’s reportedly modest wage demands.
