Top Qatari club target Super Eagles forward Sadiq Umar

Sadiq Umar, has condemned the brutal mob killing of 16 Hausa travelers in Edo State, calling out the ignorance that led to their death.

Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar is at the edge of working out of Europe in the summer, as a Qatari club is planning a €30 million offer for him.

The 28-year-old striker joined Sociedad in 2022 after impressive years at Almeria, which didn’t last as expected, he sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury that kept him out of action for the entire campaign.

Sadiq has experienced a little upturn in form since the start of the year when he left Real Sociedad for Valencia in a six-month loan deal.

However, upon his return to Real Sociedad, he battled to reach his previous levels, which made coach Imanol Alguacil reduce his gaming time.

However, at Valencia, Sadiq has picked form, contributing six goals in 16 appearances. Due to Sadiq’s performances, there have been talks that Valencia will make his transfer permanent, as a purchase option was included in his contract.

But according to Que!, Sadiq might just be involved in a transfer triangle. An unnamed Qatari club is planning to offer Valencia €30 million for the Nigerian forward in the summer, but it could get complicated.

To make Sadiq Umar’s deal permanent, Valencia needs to pay Real Sociedad €9.5 million. Once he officially becomes their player, they can decide whether to sell him or keep him.

If Valencia chooses to sell Sadiq to a Qatari club, they could automatically make a profit of around €20 million. Additionally, Valencia already has two strong strikers in Rafa Mir and Hugo Duro.

On the other hand, if Valencia opts not to exercise the purchase option for Sadiq, Real Sociedad may still decide to sell him in the summer and profit from the transfer.

Sadiq’s time at Valencia has been enjoyable, making it likely that he would prefer to stay with the club. Valencia should be able to afford the €9.5 million fee stipulated in his contract.

However, it seems unlikely that Sadiq would consider a transfer to Qatar at this point, as he is only 28 years old.

With four games remaining in the season, Valencia has a slim chance of securing a continental spot. If Sadiq performs well in these final matches, it is likely that Valencia will sign him permanently.
