Dallas Wings have signed Nigeria international Amy Okonkwo on a seven-day hardship contract following injuries within the squad.
The team confirmed the signing of the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket Most Valuable Player on Wednesday, with the 29-year-old available for the upcoming clash against Seattle Storm.
“The Dallas Wings have signed forward Amy Okonkwo to a seven-day hardship contract. The two-time FIBA AfroBasket MVP (2023, 2025) will be available for Friday’s game against the Seattle Storm,” the club said in a statement.

Earlier this year, she appeared in two preseason games with Connecticut Sun after signing a training camp contract, posting 7.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per outing.
A hardship contract in the WNBA is a short-term deal granted when a team falls below the league’s minimum roster requirement, usually 10 players, due to injuries or illnesses.

Okonkwo arrives with a strong pedigree. She was instrumental as D’Tigress secured a fifth straight Afrobasket crown in Kigali last month, repeating her 2023 MVP feat. She is also a two-time Olympian.
