Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche scored one and created another as Getafe opened their La Liga campaign with a 2-0 win at Celta Vigo.
The 22-year-old, wearing the number 10 shirt this season, played a pivotal role in both goals at the Estadio de Balaídos.
After a cagey first half, Uche surged into the box two minutes after the restart before squaring for Adrian Liso, who fired home to give Getafe the lead.

The midfielder collected a long pass from Ismael Bekhoucha, skipped past two defenders and rounded the goalkeeper to slot into an empty net.
He almost added a second late on, only for a Celta defender to block his effort. Despite late pressure from the home side, Getafe held firm to secure victory.

Uche was named La Liga’s Man of the Match, underlining why he continues to attract interest from Europe’s biggest clubs despite no summer move materialising.
Uche made his professional and top-flight debut on 15 August 2024, starting as a forward and scoring the equaliser in a 1-1 draw away at Athletic Bilbao. He went on to feature 33 times in his debut campaign, contributing four goals and six assists.
His form earned him a first senior Nigeria call-up from coach Eric Chelle for the Unity Cup in May 2025. Uche scored the decisive penalty in the shootout against Jamaica to seal the trophy for the Super Eagles.
