Valencia is reportedly weighing the option of securing Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar on a permanent deal after his impressive January move from Real Sociedad.
The 28-year-old forward, who joined the Spanish side in search of more playing time, has made an immediate impact, scoring six goals in just 15 appearances for Los Ches.
His performances have put him in strong contention for a permanent switch, with Valencia considering a €10 million deal (approximately ₦18 billion).
Valencia head coach Carlos Corberan has been particularly impressed by Umar’s contributions, especially after the striker scored a crucial goal in a recent match.

Corberan highlighted the Nigerian’s resilience and mental strength, stating, “I have three great forwards, and Sadiq is showing it. Hugo has demonstrated his quality, though he’s currently unavailable, and the same goes for Rafa Mir. I have full confidence in the three forwards we have.”

Corberan also praised Umar’s mentality, emphasizing that his ability to perform in tough situations makes him a valuable asset to the team.
Real Sociedad President Jokin Aperribay confirmed that Valencia has a purchase option for Umar, but clarified that the decision to make the transfer permanent rests with the club.

He expressed satisfaction with Umar’s performances but added that both sides would have to wait for the appropriate deadlines.
“Valencia has a purchase option for Sadiq. I’m very happy with the level he’s showing. We’ll need to wait for the deadlines,” Aperribay said in an interview with Radio Marca.
The ₦18 billion purchase option, while not mandatory, offers Valencia the opportunity to secure Umar on a permanent basis in the summer.
