West Bromwich Albion are reportedly preparing to offer Semi Ajayi a new one-year contract extension despite the team’s struggles with relegation this season.
There have been discussions about the possibility of him leaving the club this summer.
The Nigerian-born joined the Baggies in 2019, and while his time there has had its highs, he has faced challenges.
He played a crucial role in helping the team gain promotion to the Premier League.
Unfortunately, he could not prevent the club from being relegated the following season. Since then, Ajayi has battled injuries that have hindered his performance.

Since the start of the 2021/22 season, the former Arsenal player has missed at least a quarter of West Brom’s Championship games.
Last season was particularly tough, as Ajayi participated in only 15 games out of the Baggies’ 46 league matches.
The Super Eagles star earns approximately £850,000 annually, but this amount would significantly drop if he chooses to stay with the club.
What is the best option for Semi Ajayi? Injuries have taken a toll on Ajayi, causing him to regress in recent years, which makes him less appealing to top clubs in the Championship.
Furthermore, if he were to leave West Brom for another club, he would likely have to accept a pay cut.

Therefore, staying with West Brom and agreeing to a slight reduction in salary could be a wise choice, especially since the club appears capable of challenging for promotion.

On the other hand, since Ajayi is over 30, it is understandable if his next decision is influenced by financial considerations.
If a club from Saudi Arabia or Qatar shows interest, considering a move away from England may be a reasonable option for him.
