Victor Osimhen given seven-day ultimatum by Galatasaray to decide on future

Former Super Eagles midfielder Christian Obodo says poor player branding is why Victor Osimhen hasn't secured a Premier League move

Galatasaray has handed Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen a decisive seven-day deadline to determine whether he will commit his future to the Turkish champions or return to Napoli when his season-long loan expires.

According to reports from A Spor, the club’s hierarchy is eager for clarity on Osimhen’s next move to finalise their summer transfer strategy.

The 25-year-old forward has been at the heart of one of European football’s most captivating transfer stories this season. Since arriving on loan from Napoli, Osimhen has been instrumental in Galatasaray’s Süper Lig campaign, emerging as the team’s top scorer and winning over fans with his explosive performances.

However, despite his success on the pitch, negotiations over a permanent deal have hit a standstill.

Turkish outlet Sabah reports that while Osimhen’s representatives have held discussions with Saudi Pro League sides Al-Hilal and Neom FC—who have reportedly offered a staggering $40 million per year—no formal proposal matching the striker’s expectations has been presented by Galatasaray.

Meanwhile, Napoli remains firm on their stance: any permanent transfer must meet the €75 million release clause in Osimhen’s contract.

The Italian club insists on receiving the full fee upfront, complicating Galatasaray’s efforts to secure the deal without compromising their ability to strengthen other key positions, such as goalkeeper and attacking midfield.

Osimhen himself has yet to make a definitive decision. As revealed by Galatasaray journalist Yakup Çınar on Yeni Açık (via Habersarikirmizi), the Nigerian international is still awaiting an improved offer from the Turkish giants and has not held formal talks with the club’s management.

While lucrative proposals from Saudi Arabia remain on the table, Osimhen is reportedly holding out for interest from top European clubs.

Çınar further disclosed that Juventus has inquired about the striker, but Osimhen is currently more inclined to remain at Galatasaray than move to Turin.

Moreover, the former Lille star is believed to harbor ambitions of playing in the Premier League, with Manchester City, Chelsea, and even Barcelona monitoring his situation. Having already showcased his talent in Germany, Belgium, France, and Italy, a move to England or Spain could be the next chapter in Osimhen’s career.
