Galatasaray’s Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen reached a significant goal milestone in the team’s 5-1win over Eyüpspor, further solidifying his impressive form this season.
Osimhen’s strike in the 71st minute marked his 31st goal of the season in all competitions, a feat that mirrors his best goal-scoring form achieved during the 2022/2023 season with Napoli.
The 26-year-old’s contribution was not limited to his goal, as he also set up the opening goal for ex-Freiburg midfielder Roland Sallai in the 29th minute. Alvaro Morata, who came off the bench, scored a brace, ensuring Galatasaray’s convincing victory at the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Stadyumu.

After the match, Osimhen expressed his delight with the win, emphasizing the importance of the three points in Galatasaray’s pursuit of the Turkish Super Lig title.
“I’m very happy because we won,” Osimhen said. “Winning this match was very important. We needed more points. I’m very happy to have contributed with 1 goal and 1 assist. I’m also happy for Morata.”

With five league games left to play, Galatasaray currently hold a five-point lead at the top of the Turkish Super Lig table. Osimhen’s impressive form has seen him take the lead in the race for the league’s golden boot, boasting 23 goals, three more than Krzysztof Piatek.

Osimhen added that Galatarsaray is focused on securing the title. “These points are very important on the path to the championship,” Osimhen added. “As Galatasaray, we are focused on ourselves and approach each match separately. We will look forward to the next match.”
