Victor Osimhen set for medicals after Napoli make shocking transfer u-turn

Victor Osimhen and Antonio Conte

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is set to undergo a medical examination at Napoli between July 14-15, ahead of the club’s pre-season preparations. This development comes despite Osimhen’s reported desire to leave Napoli, with the Premier League being his preferred destination.

Osimhen has been linked with several top European clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool. However, Napoli’s surprise decision to call up Osimhen for pre-season suggests that his departure might not be imminent. Galatasaray, Osimhen’s current loan club, is also interested in signing him permanently.

As part of Napoli’s pre-season plans, Osimhen will reportedly play pre-season games with the team unless he secures a transfer before then. This puts Osimhen in a difficult position, as he’ll have to balance his desire to leave Napoli with his obligations to the club

Osimhen’s future has been the subject of much speculation, with several clubs vying for his signature. Despite his impressive form at Galatasaray, where he scored 37 goals and provided eight assists, Osimhen’s relationship with Napoli coach Antonio Conte remains strained. This tension likely contributed to Osimhen’s loan move to Galatasaray last summer.

Several clubs are still interested in signing Osimhen, including
Manchester United: The Red Devils have reportedly opened talks with Osimhen’s representatives and are considering a swap deal with Marcus Rashford.
Chelsea: Chelsea has re-entered the race for Osimhen, with Napoli reportedly asking for at least two players in exchange, including Romelu Lukaku and either Trevoh Chalobah or Cesare Casadei.
Galatasaray: The Turkish club is willing to break the bank to sign Osimhen permanently, having been impressed by his performances during his loan spell.
