Victor Osimhen shines, but Mourinho sparks controversy after attacking Okan Buruk

Victor Osimhen scores a brace to lead Galatasaray to a win over Fenerbahce in the Turkish Cup, but José Mourinho sparks controversy.

Victor Osimhen scored twice to help Galatasaray secure a 2-1 victory over Fenerbahce in the Turkish Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday, but Fenerbahce manager José Mourinho stole the headlines for all the wrong reasons after attacking Galatasaray’s Okan Buruk post-match.

After suffering their first domestic loss of the season to Besiktas last weekend, Galatasaray bounced back with a strong performance against their Istanbul rivals, Fenerbahce.

The game was explosive from the start, with both teams eager to assert dominance. However, it was Osimhen who broke the deadlock just 10 minutes in, capitalizing on a brilliant assist from Baris Alper Yilmaz.

The Nigerian striker used his first touch to control the ball, then unleashed a powerful shot that blazed past the Fenerbahce keeper and into the net.

Seventeen minutes later, Osimhen found the back of the net again, this time converting from the penalty spot after Fenerbahce conceded a foul inside the box.

Galatasaray’s dominant first-half performance was tempered slightly by a late goal from Fenerbahce’s Sebastian Szymański, pulling them back to 2-1 just before the break.

Osimhen, who had already done the damage with his two goals, was substituted for Alvaro Morata in the 86th minute.

His brace was enough to secure the victory, sending Galatasaray into the Turkish Cup semifinals, where they will face Konyaspor.

Mourinho’s Controversial Post-Match Attack

However, it was Mourinho’s actions after the match that caught the most attention. Frustrated by his team’s defeat, the Fenerbahce manager was seen pinching Okan Buruk’s nose, causing the Galatasaray boss to collapse onto the pitch.

Mourinho’s aggression overshadowed what was otherwise a thrilling match, and the situation quickly escalated, with both sets of players rushing to the scene. Mourinho was escorted down the tunnel by a member of his staff as the incident drew outrage.
