Victoria Eyakndue: Rivers Angels ready to right NWFL wrongs in Federation Cup final

Victoria Eyakndue says Rivers Angels are ready to bounce back from NWFL disappointment with victory in the 2025 Federation Cup Final.

Rivers Angels right back Victoria Ime Eyakndue says her side is focused on lifting the 2025 Federation Cup title after a testing league campaign.

The Port Harcourt club, who missed out on the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) title earlier in the season, face Nasarawa Amazons in Saturday’s final at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.

Eyakndue, who has provided three assists this season, believes the squad is motivated to end the campaign on a high.

“It’s been a great season for me,” she told Athletic NG. “I’m happy to be part of this family headed for a back-to-back FA Cup win.

We’ve worked hard and given our best, especially after missing out on the league. I believe we’re getting it right with this one.”

The defender began her professional career with Ibom Angels before a move to Abia Angels, where she captained the side.

Known for her pace, composure, and attacking support from full-back, Eyakndue has become a key contributor in Rivers Angels’ cup run.

Away from the pitch, the versatile right back is also an artist. A graduate of Fine Arts and Industrial Design from the University of Uyo, she combines football with a passion for creative design and painting.

“I believe to grow more in my career both nationally and internationally,” she said. “Football has given me a platform, and I want to make the most of it.”

Rivers Angels are chasing their second straight Federation Cup title, having defeated Naija Ratels 1-0 in last year’s final.
