CAF has announced the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Best XI, with four Nigerian players honoured after the Super Falcons claimed their 10th continental title in dramatic fashion.
Esther Okoronkwo, Rasheedat Ajibade, Chiamaka Nnadozie, and Michelle Alozie all earned selections following standout campaigns that powered Nigeria to victory over hosts Morocco in a thrilling final.
Okoronkwo was central to the Super Falcons’ attacking prowess, contributing 2 goals and 6 assists throughout the tournament.
Her Player of the Match performance in the final with 1 goal and 2 assists inspired Nigeria’s stunning comeback from 2-0 down to win 3-2.

Ajibade, named Player of the Tournament, delivered a commanding presence in midfield. She scored once, provided two assists, and won three Woman of the Match awards, embodying Nigeria’s relentless energy and leadership on the pitch.

Goalkeeper Nnadozie was once again outstanding, keeping the most clean sheets in the tournament. Nigeria didn’t concede a goal until the semi-final, where South Africa’s Linda Mothalo scored from the spot and two goals in the final.

Nnadozie’s calm presence and shot-stopping ability were key to Nigeria’s unbeaten run to the final.
Michelle Alozie, a defensive powerhouse, added a moment of magic in the semi-final, scoring a stunning 35-yard winner against South Africa to send Nigeria to the final.
Her all-round contribution from crucial blocks to surging runs made her a vital cog in the Falcons’ backline.

Morocco, runners-up on home soil, had captain Ghizlane Chebbak included after finishing as top scorer with five goals, while striker Ibtissam Jraidi also made the list for her clinical edge.

Third-place Ghana had defensive stalwart Portia Boakye and Grace Asantewaa named, while South Africa’s experienced duo Bambanani Mbane and Refiloe Jane were also recognised after finishing fourth.
