Flying Eagles face a nightmare group at WAFU-B U20 Cup — find out which fierce rivals stand in their way in Ghana

Nigeria’s U20 men’s national team, the Flying Eagles, have vacated their training camp in Abuja following the indefinite postponement of the 2025 WAFU A and B U20 Championship.

The players and technical crew ended their preparations on Tuesday and officially left the camp on Wednesday.

The development follows official communication from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), hosts of the tournament, informing all 16 participating nations that the competition would no longer be held as scheduled.

Originally set to take place from 15 to 30 June in Ghana, the inaugural edition of the WAFU A and B U20 Championship was designed to foster regional youth football development and serve as a key preparatory platform for Nigeria ahead of the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile.

The Flying Eagles, one of Africa’s four qualified representatives for the global showpiece, had hoped to use the regional event to evaluate the team and sharpen tactics.
